My Favorite Holiday Commercial This Year

I usually don't watch TV but my daughter got me to watch the last four episodes of The Voice. I never would have seen this commercial otherwise.... The first time I saw this commercial, I was crying. Kind of like that commercial from the Superbowl with the Clydesdale for Budweiser, remember???

I spent my night making the holiday paper bag pockets. It seemed like I made a lot more but apparently not!

Three more days until Winter Break! I'm looking forward to spending time with my family and catching up on some reading. My family will also find out more about my Dad's health status in the next few weeks, he's been undergoing tests the past two weeks. I'm trying to stay optimistic but the more I think about it, the "what if's" take over in my mind.

Paper Bag Pocket Tutorial

I had some requests for a tutorial on how I made the paper bag pocket.

I also added paper to the flap part (green patterned paper) and used a a patterned paper punch to get the scalloped edge. I hope the tutorial was helpful!

Monday Made It!

Hi There! I'm linking up with Tara from 4th Grade Frolics

As I've mentioned in other posts, I like to scrapbook and make paper crafts. Every year, I usually make some type of Holiday paper craft to give out to people at school. This year I decided to make little paper bag pockets to stuff with something. This is made out of a standard lunch bag that you can buy at Target.

There's many possibilities for what you can put in the pocket. A nice note, candy, gift card, etc. SUPER easy to make! I'm not sure if any of my co-workers enjoy my paper crafts but I find the process of making the crafts therapeutic (a good outlet).

Currently December

I'm linking up with Farley from Oh' Boy Fourth Grade. It's a good thing Farley has this linky every month or I'd probably never update my blog the rate I'm going!

My daughter has a project due on December 17th but because of her good work ethic, she decided to work on it all Thanksgiving break. I must say, I'm fortunate that she's not a procrastinator.

This is my favorite time of year - the holidays!

About three weeks ago, I got that dreaded call on my cell phone from my mom, informing me my dad was in the hospital. He was having a hard time breathing so she took him to the emergency room. He had pneumonia, was diagnosed with congestive heart failure, and they found a spot on his lung. The spot on his lung is still to be determined since he had the pneumonia. Another follow up CT scan will be done in a few weeks. He has a coronary angiogram this Wednesday, which could possibly result in open heart surgery. It really made me sit back and think about how precious time is.

My favorite tradition for Christmas is Christmas breakfast with my family. There's nothing better than my mom's cooking! We all gather at my parents house and have a yummy breakfast and exchange gifts afterwards.
